About Youth Development Center
Youth Development Center was founded on 2070 BS (2013 AD) by group of self-motivated youth, who came together with the concept to support each other for the development of young peoples in Sunsari. YDC was formed with the aims to empower young people through equal participation on social and economic development process. YDC envisions to enhance the well- being of young groups by managing resources, building capacity, promoting social justice and developing multi-stakeholder partnership.
Youth participation, reproductive health rights, gender & women rights, youth entrepreneurship & community volunteer service are the major theme of the organization.

ABOUT SOUTH ASIA REGION
South Asia or Southern Asia is the southern region of Asia, which is defined in both geographical and ethno-cultural terms. The region consists of Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, the Maldives and Sri Lanka. Topographically, it is dominated by the Indian Plate and defined largely by the Indian Ocean on the south, and the Himalayas, Karakoram, and Pamir mountains on the north. The Amu Darya, which rises north of the Hindu Kush, forms part of the northwestern border. On land (clockwise), South Asia is bounded by Western Asia, Central Asia, East Asia, and Southeast Asia.
The South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) is an economic cooperation organization in the region which was established in 1985 and includes all eight nations comprising South Asia. South Asia covers about 5.2 million km2 (2.0 million sq mi), which is 11.71% of the Asian continent or 3.5% of the world’s land surface area. The population of South Asia is about 1.891 billion or about one-fourth of the world’s population, making it both the most populous and the most densely populated geographical region in the world. Overall, it accounts for about 39.49% of Asia’s population, over 24% of the world’s population, and is home to a vast array of people.
In 2010, South Asia had the world’s largest populations of Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, Jains and Zoroastrians. South Asia alone accounts for 98.47% of Hindus, 90.5% of Sikhs, and 31% of Muslims worldwide, as well as 35 million Christians and 25 million Buddhists.
CONCEPT
South Asian Youth Conference is a collaborative initiative of prominent personalities and institutions from South Asia Region that aims to link the young leaders of south Asian countries. The initiation will create a common forum to foster the regional cooperation for collaborative approaches to contemporary issues in the region.
This conference will craft foundations to promote South Asian multilateral connectivity and strengthen ties among the citizens of both in the region. The conference will also provide connecting platform for youth leaders from diverse fields. The conference is aiming at exchanging experience and opportunity for advancing collective leadership of youths and further strengthening regional unity. Moreover, the main objective behind this conference is to reinforce the bonds between South Asian nations and find realistic solutions from a fresh, farsighted perspective for the problems that are faced by these countries.
In this context, the conference aspires to explore more avenues for or people from the South Asia Region and connect with each other by bringing together leaders representing the assorted sectors who will work to promote the multilateral relationship when they join their workplace subsequent to their partaking in this forum.
During the three-day conference discussions, lectures and workshops will take place to observe the status of Youth and formulation and implementation of policies on youth in the respective countries of South Asia region and also focus on problems faced by Youth and their common solutions through discussion.
SAYC 2022 also aims to combine efforts to combat climate change, discuss and dialogue on entrepreneurship, cooperative and trade policies between the countries of the South Asian region. It also aims to create a common platform for them to bring an end to gender based violence and common SRHR related problems faced by the Youth of these regions.
SAYC 2022 will also play an important role to discuss on UNSDGs 2030 Agenda for youth with an aim to foster the importance of active engagement of youth in sustainable development efforts in achieving sustainable, inclusive and stable societies by the target date, and to averting the worst threats and challenges to sustainable development, including the impacts of climate change, unemployment, poverty, gender inequality, conflict, and migration.
The conference will also have delegates from around the South Asian regions representing young leaders, innovators, peacemakers, youth activists and civil society pioneers in a single forum to share their contributions, experiences, and knowledge on pertinent regional as well as global issues.
Objectives:
The overall objective of the South Asian Youth Conference is to gather young leaders, innovators, peacemakers, youth activists and civil society pioneers from around the region in a single forum to share their experiences and knowledge on pertinent global issues. However, the specific objectives of the conference are as follows:
- To share the best practices through mutual learning on ideas and initiatives of advocacy tools to achieve sustainable development goals from the youth perspective and encourage youth to lobby them in their own respective governments.
- To share and explore the different ideas of inclusive policy-making, good governance, entrepreneurship development, cooperative and trade policies and SDGs among each other.
- To promote the idea of cultural diplomacy through inter-cultural dialogue, cultural exchanges and sharing of experiences to achieve peaceful solutions to conflict.
- To enhance and promote the principle of joint advocacy and action to achieve global peace through shared responsibility.
- To create a common platform among youths to bring an end to gender based violence and common SRHR related problems faced by the them in these regions.
Participants and Resource Persons:
South Asian Youth Conference 2022 will host approximately 150 national and international national delegates aged 16-40 from across the globe. The attendees will be from diverse background and nationalities and will be balanced in terms of gender. In addition there will be around 50 volunteers and speaker national delegates and observers participating in the conference. Thematic experts and both national and international academicians will facilitate thematic sessions. Thematic sessions will be moderated by professionals representing different organizations. The official inauguration of the event will be graced by Member of Parliament, Member of local assembly, senior bureaucrat and diplomats.

The inauguration of the “South Asian Youth Conference” will be organized at conference hall of Nepal Tourism Board followed by the thematic seminars in the same hall.
