Youth power is an invaluable asset of the nation. Youths are the pioneers and change agents of political, economic, social and cultural transformation. Youths remain as the chief heritage of the nation due to courage, creativity, learning competence and high degree of self-confidence, which is also considered the major source of nation building. The total population of the people belonging to 16 to 40 years age group constitutes 40.3 percent of the total population in Nepal. The youths being the backbone of the nation from qualitative and quantitative viewpoint, it is essential to make an overall development of the youths and to bring their competence in the mainstream of national development Meaningful participation should take place in all stages of decision-making: during development, implementation and evaluation. No matter if, the program/policy is big or small, young people should be included.

Youth Development center have been advocating for the meaningful youth participation in decision-making level, as this is core theme of YDC.

• Youth Participation for National Youth Policy :

The youths being the change agents of political, economic and social transformation, it is the main need at present to involve them actively in nation building by specially addressing it through the national policy. The youths have made major contributions to every political change, establishment of democracy and other social movements in Nepal. YDC is being advocating for the youth participation I National policy.

• Youth Participation for the implementation of SDG :

Young people are active drivers of change in local communities. Young people have a role in engaging people at the grassroots level and a role in communicating the goals to a wider society. YDC as a youth-led organization, have been working on SDGs implementation through providing the space to youth and recognition to participate in translation of the agenda into local provincial policy, in implementation, in monitoring and review, in holding governments accountable.

• IYD Celebration:

International Youth Day Celebration (Youth Festival): Youth Development center celebrates Interactional Youth Day as a festival with various cultural event at Sunsari district every year. The major focus of the IYD is to accelerate the issue of SRHR for the public awareness. During IYD 2017, various youth group has performed the cultural show during the event. YDC has invited to newly elected youth representative from province number 1. Event was mainly focus on awareness raising on the issues of safe abortion. Approximately 5000+ (300 male and 2000 Female) were participated in the event. The event was organized for two days. This youth festival was organized with in collaboration with Itahari Sub-metropolitan city, National Youth Council, Shangrila development Bank and 20+ other youth groups and civil society organization. The main propose of this event is to boost up the issue of SRHR and safe abortion in particular.
